- bringing you closer to this beautiful country of Wales
THE VALE OF GLAMORGAN
The County of the Vale of Glamorgan is a rich mixture of market towns, small
villages, busy shopping centres, wild open clifftop, windswept shores, sandy
bathing beaches, prosperous farmland and expensive housing. In other words,
something for everyone who visits this little known district just 25 miles by 15
miles, lying to the west of Cardiff.
St.
Donat's Castle
Centuries old "pubs", selling "Real Ale" (old fashioned
beer) and Welsh Whisky, family owned bakeries and grocers, antique dealers and
craft shops, quaint tearooms and superb restaurants - all are here, hidden away
in the depths of the country or in quiet side streets in the larger villages and
towns of the Vale.
But there is much more beside - fishing, quiet rivers, ancient monuments,
country gardens, wildlife and fauna nature reserves, lighthouses and castles,
ancient churches and hidden ruins of once great mansions.
Part of the fun whilst visiting the Vale is to try out
some of the excellent pubs, (Public Houses), that abound in the county. You must
make your own mind up as to which are "best", or "have the best
beer", as everyone's taste differs, and each of these pubs will store their
beers in a different way, so as to give a unique taste of the "House".
The list here is just a small selection of the pubs in
the Vale area - many also offer food as well. They have been listed by
geographical areas, in no particular order.VisitCardiff's selection is
highlighted in red.
Maybe you have other pubs that should go in this list.
Why not e-mail us with your comments, and we will be happy to add your
selection, but they must be in the Vale of Glamorgan!!
