PENARTH

Penarth is a very attractive seaside town (pop. 24,000) located 5 miles (8kms), southwest of Cardiff, the Capital City of Wales. (Only 20 minutes from the City Centre). Lying on the northern shores of the fast flowing Bristol Channel, PENARTH has been a seaport for little more than 150 years, and owes its rapid development to the growth of the once dominant coal exporting industry - now just a memory - and a legacy of some of Wales' finest houses.

With a splendid Victorian pier which berths Britain's last seagoing paddle steamer, acres of beautiful parks, clifftop walks, a magnificent 450 berth yacht marina, an excellent sports and leisure complex, and the incredible £200 million Cardiff Bay Barrage, PENARTH is a splendid place to visit, shop and stay.
During the Spring, Summer and early Autumn, the M/V "Balmoral" and P/S "Waverley" call at Penarth Pier, and embark passengers on a wonderful range of cruises to english piers and harbours. Amongst the most popular cruises are those to Ilfracombe and Lundy Island, Minehead and Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Local Attractions include the National Museum of Wales Art Gallery, "Turner House", in Plymouth Road, the Washington Art Gallery in Stanwell Road, the Glamorganshire Golf Club in Lavernock Road, and the Cardiff Bay Barrage.
