CARDIFF'S City Centre is bustling, compact, easy to walk and exciting ! Everything needed by visitors is located within a 3/4 mile radius, all under cover, and served by buses and taxis.

Cardiff Central Station is located on the west of the Central Business District. Frequent train services run from this station to all parts of Wales and England, with through links to Scotland and Southern Ireland. The station is operated by ArrivaWales acting for the SRA. All U.K. Rail Enquiries are handled from Cardiff, Phone (08457) 48 49 50.

Cardiff Bus Station is located adjacent to the Train Station, and is the principal Bus and Long Distance Coach Station for South Wales. Numerous services operate out of Cardiff to all parts of Wales and England, with links to Southern Ireland and Scotland. Phone (08706) 082 608.

CITY INFORMATION: SHOPPING

Shopping in Cardiff is a dream! Hundreds of shops, crammed with quality merchandise, provide everything the visitor could possibly need. Too much to list, you really have to visit the main Shopping District, located close by Cardiff's CBD. Top Stores include James Howell, Debenhams, IKEA and M&S.

Other popular Shopping experiences are the St. David's Centre, the delightful Wyndham, Royal, High St.,Castle, and Queen's Arcades, and the recently refurbished Capitol Centre.

Shops mostly open 8.30am to 5.30pm with Late Night-Thursdays, and Sundays 11am - 5pm.

CITY INFORMATION: CARDIFF BAY

Cardiff Bay is the new name for the City's once infamous "Tiger Bay" Docklands, heralded by internationally acclaimed film stars, John and Hayley Mills, in their post-war murder thriller.

Now, Cardiff Bay is the centre of a pulsating, exciting, £200 million regeneration project, created by the incredible Cardiff Bay Barrage, which encapsulates dozens of Inner Waterfront based restaurants, which offer every conceivable ethnic style of menu.

Cheerful, inexpensive, waterside cafes list coffees, snacks,Welsh Teas, Fish & Chips and many other tasty meals, on their All Day menus, whilst Pubs such as the "Eli Jenkins" recreate the "World of Dylan Thomas", close by the amazing "Hands-On" Techniquest Centre, and the fantastic 1,800 seater Opera & Arts Wales Millenium Centre, whilst a few yards away, the Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre (known by everyone as "The Tube"), and the enchanting Norwegian Church Arts Centre, draw visitors by the thousand with their appealing combination of fascinating views across "The Bay", and fine paintings by top quality artists.

CITY INFORMATION: BUSINESS

CARDIFF is Wales' largest city, with a Population of around 300,000. Within a 30 minute drive time, this rises to approximately 1 million, about 1/3 of the Wales total. CARDIFF lies 3 hours west of London, England, on the M4 Motorway, and 2 hours from London (Heathrow) Airport. 

Cardiff International Airport (CWL) is located 30 minutes west of the city, and has an excellent dedicated bus service direct to the city centre.

CARDIFF was built by the Romans, but made its money from coal exporting in the 19th Century.

CARDIFF today is a vibrant modern city, with banking, accountancy, legal, media, tourism, administrative and Government offices providing thousands of well paid professional jobs, supported by a First Class University, Medical School and Technical Colleges.                          

Electronics, warehousing, retail distribution, financial services, and exporting, are amongst the principal commercial activities in the city.
